Speaker: Vlad Bunea
Topic: The Degrowth Elephant - Why we must talk openly and widely about degrowth in Canada
Watch Now on YouTube
Presentation Summary:
Degrowth has increased in popularity significantly in the past few years. Yet, there is a persistent reluctance to adopt degrowth in official narratives and policy positions. This reluctance is largely based on an improper understanding of degrowth and on hidden motives that seek to protect established privileges. In this talk I will explore 5 quantitative and 5 qualitative questions to define clear boundaries for degrowth. I will propose 5 prefigurative statements for a radical, open and courageous adoption of degrowth with the aim of surviving the polycrises brought upon by capitalism.
